The Porsche Panamera is a four-door, four-seat luxury sedan. A sedan might seem like a stretch for Porsche, but it has successfully broken out of its sports car mould with the Cayenne.

The Panamera is front-engined, rear wheel drive, with the four-wheel drive option available in the top end versions. The engine choices range from 300 to 500 horsepower, engines will be mated to a manual six-speed or Porsche's new PDK seven-speed, automated dual-clutch transmission. There will also be a gas/electric hybrid model, but there are no details yet as to when it will become available. Porsche says it will be a full parallel hybrid – i.e. it can run on electric only, gas only, or a combination of the two. US sales for the Panamera are expected to begin end of 2009 for the 2010 model year
